department national defense questions and answers
Q: Why are we wasting tax dollars on Homeland Security, when we already had "The Dept. of National Defense?"
Didn't The Department of National Defense already protect the Home Land?
... and if Homeland Security does the job of The Department of National Defense, then shouldn't we eliminate that department?
A: Great Question. You think on the same line as I do.The way I see it is, 1st...some dumd a-- in Washington (who didn;t have much to do anyway) came up with the title of Homeland Security..to protect us. He/She did not even know of the Dept of National Defence...or what it was supose to be doing. Big brownie points for this idea.
2nd. Now that we have Homeland Security ( and we are all safe from bad guys attacking us on our home turf ), Washington has all but forgotten about the Dept. of National Defense...except to continue to write out checks to keep them up and running. Don't forget that promises and big deals were made behind closed doors in the 1st place. Once Depts are created,at best the names change and nothing more. I guess we all should feel 100% safe now....after all we have a Homeland Security to protect at Home and a National Defense to protect us if we are attacked. I'm more confused now than before. But still the law in NYS says I'm to call 911 if I'm attacked.....How did this attacker from God knows where get this close to me to start with ? Oh well..I also have a Dept of Personnal Security. This is run by Director Ruger and Dep Director S&W.
Thank you and have a great day.
Q: Is National security and defense that important the defense department shouldn't account for what they do with
the money they get?

A: hey George where did the 9 billion go ? if the NSA can access SWIFT and monitor the 'suspicious' financial movements of every opposition politician , like spitzer , then why can't they find the missing billions bush sent to Iraq . and who in their right mind sends billions in cash to a war zone ? this war just seems to be a cover for corporate war profiteers to loot the treasury .
Q: The Philippine defense/military establishment aspires to reform & improve itself, how can reforms be done?
The Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are undertaking a reform and transformation program to improve the way they perform their mandates to defend and secure the Philippines and serve and protect the Filipino people. What do you think are the main areas to be focused on by the defense and military establishments? What are the critical problems to be solved or addressed first? How can they best serve the interests of country and people?
A: Remove all the corrupt officials , start with the Executive Branch, Legislative, & Judicial.
"Retire" ALL OLD GENERALS/ADMIRALS in the Military.
Replace with young visionary loyal Officers, Promote Brilliant Colonels/Navy Captains to flag officers!
West Point. USNA, USAF Academy,& USCG graduates are even better! also PMA/PNA graduates.
Invite the U.S. Military as Advisors/Observers in the whole revamping process!
Q: What company does Department of Defense and Military uses for background check?
I am being processed for the Marine Corps and they pulled my national background check. I was wondering who exactly does the check and who is it certified by? Also, how can I go about getting a copy of the fact that I have a clean and clear background. I would like this to provide to my employer as I am getting promoted and will be working locally until I leave for basic. Would the recruiter be able to supply me with a free copy or where and how can I go directly about obraining this?
thank You
A: Hello Dennis,
The answer is no.
The Department of Defense doesn't use any civilian company to run your background check. They do it themselves through one of its agencies right from their computers. Your "background check" is not a security clearance. That process comes later when and if the Marines assigns you to a duty MOS that requires that you have access to classified information.
Also, locally, you signed a release of information form for your recruiter. He/she used it to visit the local courthouse, sheriff's department, police departments, probation departments, to find out if you have any local criminal involvement. I used to verify such information for military recruiters when I was a probation officer.
But, when you are in technical school and a "security clearance" is run on you the FBI and military offices of special investigations will be checking you out and interviewing the people you put on your security clearance form.
You can not get any feedback copy to show your current employer. If your employer wants to know about your possible criminal background or lack thereof they can do the work for themselves.
The recruiter is not going to supply you with Official Use Only paperwork generated about you.
So, forget the whole idea and just get ready to enter the Marines. You would be better served by starting an exercise regimen daily of running, pushups and sit ups and pull ups. How many can you do?

Q: Do you believe that Palin being commander of the Alaska National guard is a key plus for her?
While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under "federal status," which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska's national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.
A: No I don't. You are correct in your assessment of National Guard when they are called into military service. A Governor usually calls them into action for natural disasters on a state level. I am not aware of any time Sarah Palin had done so.
Additionally, she had not obtain a passport for travel abroad until the Alaskan unit was deployed to the middle east. She needed to get one to visit the troops. That is the sum of Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience.
Q: The Philippine Air Force said that it will start ordering MRF's by 2011. What MRF is the best for PAF?
The Department of National Defense is currently choosing between the 3 said MRF's.
In your own view...
What MRF do you think is the most suitable for the PAF?
Is it the SaabJas39Gripen, the F16 C/D Fighting Falcon, or the F18 E/F Super Hornet?
A: I like the F16 C/D Fighting Falcons and think that the PAF would be best served by that unit.
Q: Department of Defense numer of people?
i am doing a project on the United States Department of Defense
i need to know the number of people in the Department of Defense
Should I include all the troops in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and the National Guard?
1) I did include National Guard
2)Robert Gates is the Secretary of Defense
A: Department of Defense
Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary
Number of Employees: 2.3 million Military (Active, Reserve, and Guard) and 636,000 Civilian
Major Assets: Four Armed Services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force); 16 Defense Agencies; 10 Unified Combatant Commands; and over 30 million acres of bases and/or facilities worldwide.
Q: When will we start taking our national debt seriously?
Neither the Republicans or the Democrats seem to have any fiscal responsibility. Bush nearly doubled our debt and Obama is set to increase our debt even faster. By the end of the decade, our interest on the debt will be a bigger expense than the entire department of defense at $700 billion. What will it take before we seriously address our national debt?
A: Republican Presidents, one after the other, have increased our debt and have been viewed as great
leaders. The last eight years we were told, repeatedly, that deficits didn't matter. Why now the sudden change of heart. One way to address the debt is to close the "loop holes" for those at the top. Interestingly, this mornings L.A. Times had an article on a couple who earned $108,000,000 and paid no tax. No state, No federal. As far as I am concerned that is where they should focus their attention.
As a tax payer and a middle class one I would not be in favor of any efforts to address the deficit on the backs of those in the middle on down first.
Q: For which libs is this true? If conservatives contribute taxes for infrastructure, education, a legal system,
disaster relief (fire department), and national defense...services that basically benefit everyone and that the individual would have difficulty obtaining on their own...that they also have to contribute to people who choose to party and underachieve...so everyone has a livable wage?
Just so you all know...in future questions...lots of us conservatives would be very happy to start taking the law into our own hands....so I'd suggest you all leave "the police" off the list ;)
A: It would be an interesting experiment to have conservative contribute taxes to government services that help everyone and liberals contribute taxes to government services to help a selected few.
I suspect conservatives would be sitting pretty financially while liberals go bankrupt with their high tax load.

the Federal Bureau of Investigation was created before 1947.
Q: Does Cuba represent a biological or bacteriological threat to America?
Cuba's bacteriological and biological weapons.- The world and the USA believes Cuba "has at least a limited offensive biological warfare" program and may be transferring its expertise to other countries hostile to the United States. We are concerned that such technology could support biological warfare programs in those states. Cuba might be attempting to develop weapons of mass destruction.
The State Department's top nonproliferation official, called on Cuba to cease transfers of biological weapons technology to "rogue states and to fully comply with all of its obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention." this remarks were prepared for delivery to the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group. For four decades Cuba has maintained a well-developed and sophisticated biomedical industry, supported until 1990 by the Soviet Union. This industry is one of the most advanced in Latin America, and leads in the production of pharmaceuticals and vaccines that are sold worldwide. Analysts and Cuban defectors have long cast suspicion on the activities conducted in these biomedical facilities.
Secret Intelligence sources reported and concluded that Cuba might represent a significant military threat to the United States or the region. Cuba is part of Axis of Evil.
Fidel Castro cooperated with Iraq's Saddam Hussein in an active chemical and biological weapons program. The report originated in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, an online intelligence newsletter published by WorldNetDaily. Some intelligence analysts believe Castro may have unleashed that program on the U.S. in the form of West Nile Virus.
West Nile was first identified in New York City in 1999. By the end of 2002, there were 4,156 laboratory-diagnosed human cases and 284 deaths, the largest arboviral meningo-encephalitis outbreak ever recorded in North America,
To conduct a bacteriological attack, a country or a terrorist group does not need to have any sophisticated means of delivery, such as a missile. A container the size of a five-pound sugar bag can bring bacteriological materials capable of causing over 50,000 casualties in an urban area, depending on the flow.
Communist Cuba is a threat to U.S. National Security.
Department of Defense remains vigilant on southern Florida and Cuba's terrorist cells.
TC wrote: " No, The reason that you hear so much negative propaganda about Cuba is because the wealthy 0.1% of the US population controls 99.9% of our wealth is afraid of communism"
I think is the other way!
If they are so powerful, yhat 0.1% couldn't be afraid of communism! because communism does not exist! and they know it!
They might be afraid of losing drug trade profits that they make, thanks to the simulation of communism in islands used as jump boards for cocaine smugglers in Florida.
A: No,
The reason that you hear so much negative propaganda about Cuba is because the wealthy 0.1% of the US population controls 99.9% of our wealth is afraid of communism.
Q: Does Sarah Palin Control the Alaskan National Guard?
McCain said, "She's the commander of the Alaska National Guard... She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities."
But as far as government goes, governors are only chief in regard to state units; and this only applies when the units are *not* involved in service. When units are deployed, they fall under the power of the federal government; thus they get their orders from the Department of Defense, not their governor. Also, "Alaska's national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personell, among the smallest of state guard organizations."
Did McCain mix up his facts or was he going somewhere else with that statement, and if so, what did he mean?
Um---I'm not a sexist just because I think your candidate is a joke. You're the sexist because all you see is her gender. I oppose where she stands on issues I care about. I am in no way a sexist: I voted for Hillary, a woman, as my PRESIDENTIAL candidate.
Andy, this issue in no way involves Reverend Wright, but thanks for playing. Maybe if you had more things to criticize, you'd be able to synthesize your critiques with more effective transitions.
R&S, that is the worst argument for sexism I have ever heard in my entire life--which is a lot, mind you, considering that I firmly supported the feminist groups at my colleges and have attended their campaigns with bells on for the past five years.
You are the sexist, because all you can see about Palin is that she's a woman. I'm talking about her beliefs and experience.
A: Did McCain 'mis up his facts'?? No, he lied. Period. She has NO control or decision making ability over the guard once they are in service. Further, the Guard Commander issued a statement saying that she hasn't made any decisions in regards to them.
McCain's also been saying for 3 days that Palin sold the governors jet on Ebay..."and made a profit'. This too is a lie. She TRIED to sell it on ebay, but there were no offers. So she sold it through a broker at a loss of 2.5 million.
Q: Members of Congress often have to wrestle with the potential conflict between the national interest and their?
Scenario: You are a Democratic congressperson from Florida. In order to cut federal spending, the President (a Democrat) and the Department of Defense intend to close a number of military bases around the country, One base on this “hit list” employs some 5,000 civilians and is crucial to your district’s economic growth. The President and key Democratic party leaders call you and ask for your support in this national effort to cut federal spending. When this bill comes up for a vote (approximately four months before the next election), how will you vote?
In your responses, discuss:
1) How you will vote, and why;
2) Whether you will be adopting a “delegate,” “trustee,” or “partisan” role
To help you decide, consider the following
• As a veteran congressperson, you have learned that excessive federal spending looms as a growing national problem. Also, in your personal opinion, there are many other areas (i.e. education, health care, environment, etc.) that need the money more.
A: Let me guess, you want me to do you homework?
Q: How can Bush CLAIM to be STRONG on national security?
Lets analyze the data shall we?
3,000 people died because Bush failed to prevent the largest and most successful terrorist attack on our nation.
3,000 people died because Bush failed to attack the right country responsible for 9.11.
2,000 people died because Bush failed to protect Americans after Katrina had struck the Gulf states and creating a national crisis/tragedy.
Permitting hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to invade America.
Even though Bush has spent billions more then Clinton in Defense, creating the Department of Homeland Security and running in 2000 and 2004 on a stronger defense why has Bush failed time and time again in protecting America? 8,000 Americans are now dead because of Bush!
Ruth - Bush said made national security an issue back in 2004...so what does he have to show for it? Besides thousands of dead Americans?
Alberto - When the terrorists attacked Clinton back in 1992 it was only after he was in office for less then three months and the republicans blamed him. Why are you cons changing you song and tune for George?
A: That's easy....
1) he's a liar
2) his arrogance and his ego is the only things about him that is substantial.....

Communist Cuba is a threat to U.S. National Security.
Department of Defense remains vigilant.
Miami and Cuba are in the watch list.
A: Cuba is indeed a threat to America and Mexico, and Canada.
Probably not a threat for Venezuela.
Cuba must be disarmed, democratized and liberated.
Communist ideologies are spreading across Florida, and narco-terrorism is spreading across the hemisphere. Cuba is part of axis of evil.
